Saffron production was first introduced to Afghanistan in
1973, however, it became more prevalent in 1990s. Over the
past few decades Saffron cultivation has grown exponentially,
and Afghanistan now accounts for over 16% of the global export
market.
CRUX has been producing Saffron in Herat province since 2015.
Our business model focuses on a community inclusive approach;
and we have employed farmers from the local communities.
Moreover, CRUX has provided training to women from local
communities, who assist us in the processing of Saffron.
We have the four different grades of saffron: Super Negin,
